Where Are Ducted Split Systems Suitable and Where Are They Unsuitable?
Application of Ducted Split Systems
Air conditioning systems are designed to regulate and maintain temperature and humidity levels in accordance with the functional requirements of a given space. The suitability of ducted split systems depends largely on the spatial configuration and intended usage.
Suitable Applications
Ducted split systems are particularly effective in large, open-plan areas such as living rooms, lounges, and multipurpose halls. With appropriately designed ductwork, these systems ensure uniform air distribution throughout the conditioned zone. When integrated with advanced control solutions—such as programmable thermostats or smart controllers positioned within the return air path—they allow for precise regulation of both temperature and humidity. This facilitates the maintenance of a consistent and comfortable thermal environment across the entire space.
Unsuitable Applications
In contrast, ducted split systems are generally less suitable for multi-zone or compartmentalized layouts, such as residences with several bedrooms or offices with enclosed rooms. In such scenarios, all areas are dependent on a single central unit, limiting the ability of individual occupants to adjust conditions to their specific comfort preferences. Consequently, achieving room-by-room temperature differentiation is difficult, and thermal dissatisfaction among occupants may arise.
